- The competition is open to any resident of the Barossa region who is of the ages specified
- Entries should be in the form of a fictional story on the subject, “Find Your Treasure”.
- Entries may be hand-written or typed or computer-processed.
- Entries will be judged on the basis of imagination, clarity of expression, grammar appropriate to the age group and presentation. The judges’ decisions will be final.
- Entries may be illustrated, but this will not be a criterion for judging.
- All entries must be clearly marked with the name and contact details of the author, and, if appropriate, the school at which the author is enrolled

- Prizes will be awarded for first, second and third places.
- At the discretion of the judges, prizes may be awarded for outstanding poetry entries.
- A Certificate of Participation will be awarded to all entrants.
- Prizes, in the form of book vouchers, will be awarded to schools which, in the opinion of the judges, have done most to encourage participation by Young Writers enrolled at that school.
- Entries may be submitted to any branch of the Barossa Library from 30th April, 2018 and close on Tuesday 16th October, 2018 at 5.00pm. The names of winners will be announced at a public ceremony and published in the local press.
